What is an Electronic Check?

Put simply, an electronic check (eCheck for short) is the online version of the physical checks we’ve used for years. However, because of its electronic format, it allows for easier, faster and often more secure transactions than the dead tree version.  Electronic checks can be used for any transactions for which purchasers could use a paper check, and still remain protected by the same laws and regulations.  The benefits of eChecks arrive to consumers in the form of convenience and security; business owners benefit from getting paid more quickly and efficiently. An e-check is a win-win for both businesses and customers because it enables faster payment processing and immediate access to deposited funds.

How is an Electronic Check More Secure?

Electronic checks provide security features not available with paper checks or debit/credit cards. Some eCheck security features include public key inscription (to verify funds are not tampered in the process), and duplicate check detection (to prevent fraud).

Electronic checks have the benefit of automation and the reliance of the ACH Network (regulated through the Federal Reserve’s Regulation E and the NACHA Operating Rules). The electronic check is far more secure than a paper check, with an encryption feature that verifies the account number and dollar amount.

Sherry Conner

PRESIDENT

Sherry Conner, SeamedECheck's President, joined SeamedECheck in 2013 and is passionate about helping SeamedECheck’s customers, employees and investors realize their full potential with the simplicity and flow that SeamedECheck’s commerce enablement platform brings to the marketplace. Sherry has 14 years of experience in the payments and software industry, including eight years as Vice President of our Western Region. During her career, she has led business development for payment network processing, agent bank and ISO programs, as well as a variety of alternative payment solutions. Sherry served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army following graduation from the Defense Language Institute and holds a BBA in International Business from the University of Tampa.

Lawrence South

SVP of OPERATIONS

As Senior Vice President of Operations, Lawrence South is responsible for execution at SeamedECheck. Lawrence joined the company in 2014 and leads a team of Product Managers and Designers that are passionate about delivering experiences that help business owners grow their revenue, improve business insights and save time. Lawrence has over 15 years of experience developing and managing teams at startups and growth organizations. He's passionate about building great teams. Lawrence is a private pilot, served as an NCO in the Marine Corps, and holds a BS in Business Management from Georgia State University.

SARAH BRowN

SVP, CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Sarah is the Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at SeamedECheck and is passionate about leading organizations and efforts to create an excellent experience for every SeamedECheck prospect and customer. She leads the Customer Success and Customer Care teams who provide proactive and reactive support to 17,000+ SMBs, helping their businesses succeed. Sarah has over 10 years experience managing customer facing teams. Under her leadership, her teams have won Silver and Bronze Stevie Awards, recognized for providing outstanding customer service in the software category. Prior to joining SeamedECheck Sarah was the General Manager of an upscale, high-volume, boutique hotel. Sarah has a B.A in Sociology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. She was the Silver Stevie Award winner for ‘Young Customer Service Professional’ in 2012.

Sean Olsen

VP, MARKETING

Sean Olsen, Vice President of Marketing, oversees SeamedECheck brand, product marketing and growth strategies. Sean is passionate about connecting people with products and services that will transform their lives for the better. With over 15 years of experience marketing technology, Sean brings his expertise in high-growth strategies and won numerous marketing awards including the BMA Best in Show and Best B2B Marketing Strategy 2013 and Deloitte Technology Fast 500 in 2012 and 2013. Sean has a B.A. in Sociology and Journalism from Beloit College and is Pragmatic Marketing certified.

Patricia Smith

VP, ENGINEERING

Patricia Smith joined SeamedECheck in 2014 and is responsible for the overall technical vision and strategy for SeamedECheck's payment solutions. Prior to joining SeamedECheck, Patricia worked for multiple startups and growth organizations in the Denver area and was an architect and lead at Ricoh USA. With over 15 years of experience, Patricia is well-versed in building and leading distributed teams of software engineers that strive for quality and continuous improvement. Patricia earned a BS in Computer Science from Colorado State University.
